Teeth Whitening
Having white teeth has become the number one aesthetic concern of many patients. Teeth whitening is a simple, safe, non-invasive way to change the colour of your natural tooth enamel. Since teeth whitening only works on your natural teeth, it is important to evaluate your current fillings, crowns, implants, etc. to match your newly whitened teeth. Please keep in mind that teeth whitening is not permanent and a touch-up may be needed every couple years, and more often if you drink coffee, tea, or wine, or if you smoke regularly. It is also completely normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the whitening process, and up to 48 hours after the appointment.

Laser Dentistry
Needle-free laser dentistry has grown more popular than many traditional dentistry practices, making treatments more precise and less painful. This newer practice utilizes intense beams of light projected by a dental laser. The FDA deemed this practice to be safe for public usage in 1990. Since then, many dentists have incorporated dental lasers into everyday procedures reducing bleeding, anxiety, and post-treatment recovery times. The beauty of dental lasers is that they damage far less of the surrounding tissue than traditional techniques, meaning less discomfort and pain. Laser dentistry benefits include:
  • Faster healing and tissue regeneration
  • Preservation of your natural tooth
  • Reduced bleeding during and after treatment
  • Reduced need for anesthesia
  • Minimized need for stitches and sutures
  • Reduced risk of bacterial infections after procedures
Laser dentistry is incredibly versatile and plays an important role in a growing number of common dental procedures. Though it is most notably associated with cosmetic treatments, it is equally effective for preventative procedures.

Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are thin layers of porcelain fixed onto teeth to enhance appearance, fix cracks, or tooth shape. Sparwood Dental Clinic offers porcelain veneers because they allow many patients to achieve a dramatic smile makeover without an extensive cost. In addition, the application is non-invasive and the result will last 10-30 years. Veneers typically require 2-3 appointments, the first being a consultation to determine the desired look and colour. During the second visit we prepare the tooth surfaces by removing a very thin layer of enamel and taking impressions of the teeth. On the third visit, the dentist will apply a cleaning solution to prepare the tooth surfaces for bonding, and the permanent veneers will be cemented into place.

Dental Bonding
Bonding is used to improve the appearance of your smile, and is often much less expensive that other cosmetic procedures. A bonding resin is placed on your existing teeth and can come in a variety of colours to match your existing tooth colour, giving your smile a more natural look. And unlike veneers or dental crowns, bonding does not require any (or very little) of your original tooth to be removed before the bonding can be placed. Dental bonding is typically recommended for patients who have misshapen teeth, discoloured teeth, gaps between teeth, or tooth cracks.
